In strict alignment with our Horizon Cluster 4 research grant milestones, we are establishing an elite, state-of-the-art research laboratory at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
◆ General Terms
We are seeking a highly accomplished, hands-on Senior Scientist I to spearhead advanced experimental workflows within our newly established laboratory at the University of Amsterdam. This role bridges fundamental molecular mechanisms with high-resolution cellular imaging and computational analytics.
- Design, execute, and oversee rigorous wet-lab experimental workflows
- Deploy advanced microscopy methodologies to investigate subcellular dynamics
- Integrate empirical biological data with computational models using Python or R
- Author peer-reviewed manuscripts and deliver Horizon Cluster 4 milestone deliverables
- PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Oncology, or related field
- 2–3 years post-doctoral research experience
- Verifiable publication record in peer-reviewed international journals
- Hands-on expertise in in vitro cell technologies (zebrafish models advantageous)
- Advanced proficiency in cutting-edge microscopy
- Computational competency in Python or R
We are seeking an ambitious, early-career Scientist II — ideal for a final-year PhD candidate or freshly graduated postdoctoral researcher — to join our core research team. This position offers a unique dual-focus training environment spanning wet-lab neuroscience, multi-omics integration, and advanced histological analysis.
- Execute advanced histological processing and tissue sectioning
- Manage in vitro and in vivo experimental procedures (mouse models, post-mortem human tissue)
- Generate and process high-throughput multi-omics datasets
- Develop analytical scripts using Python, R, or MATLAB
- Final-year PhD candidate or recently graduated PhD
- Hands-on experience with modern omics technologies
- Laboratory background in in vitro and in vivo methodologies
- Validated competence in handling murine models and post-mortem human tissue
- Expertise in histology and tissue staining/imaging
- Programming skills in Python, R, or MATLAB
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Computational Scientist to direct our dry-lab operations and computational architecture at the University of Amsterdam. You will lead the design of scalable analytical pipelines, machine learning models, and simulation frameworks dedicated to quantum biology and multi-omics integration.
- Architect high-performance computational pipelines for quantum-biochemical modeling
- Develop advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical inference models
- Establish rigorous data infrastructure and reproducible workflows
- Collaborate with experimental teams to meet Horizon Cluster 4 deliverables
- PhD in Computational Science, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years post-doctoral or industrial research experience
- Expert-level Python and R (C++ or MATLAB preferred)
- Deep expertise in large-scale life science datasets
- Proven track record in machine learning and High-Performance Computing (HPC)
- Distinguished publication record demonstrating methodological innovation
